GenX Flashback with AntennaPod

Recently, I’ve been using AntennaPod on my Samsung S24 to keep up with my podcast feed during the workday. For the most part, it’s a solid, open-source experience, but I’ve run into a peculiar little glitch lately.

Every once in a while, the audio skips backward and replays the previous 10 seconds. The transition is surprisingly smooth—so smooth, in fact, that the last two times it happened, I didn’t even realize it until that “deja vu” feeling kicked in.

The experience immediately took me back to the days of portable Discman players. If you ever went running with one, you’ll remember the “anti-skip” buffers that would kick in to keep the music moving when the CD encountered a bump. This feels like a modern, digital version of that same phenomenon.

Despite the occasional loop back in time, it’s a great app. Has anyone else encountered this “smooth skip” on Android? It’s a strange bit of nostalgia in an otherwise high-tech setup.
