Catching up on Monarch season 2

I finally caught up on episodes 8 and 9 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, and I have thoughts.

The Kentaro arc continues to be the weak link. Every time the character is confronted with something — a decision, a revelation, a monster the size of a skyscraper — the response is the same flat expression of mild inconvenience. For a show that’s otherwise committed to its characters carrying the emotional weight, it sticks out.

The Axis Mundi storyline, on the other hand, is going full Avengers. The time dilation mechanics are escalating in ways that feel like they’re setting up something enormous — or at minimum something expensive. There’s a version of this that pays off beautifully and a version that collapses under its own mythology. Right now it could go either way.

And look — if they’re playing in the time-bending space and Kang somehow wanders in from wherever the Avengers left him, that would be the most chaotic crossover event in streaming history, and I would absolutely watch it.

Staying tuned.
